Low level glimpse of gameplay for Minion Masters, the Free 2 Play, fast paced, tower defense styled game by Beta Dwarf Entertainment. Originally added to Steam as an Early Access title in 2016. Official released set for January 2018.
Holding the bridges gives you XP over time which levels up your master and earns you new abilities over the course of a match. Each master has different abilities and it's important to tailor your deck to the masters powers. The starter, for example, has ranged upgrades so it might be smart to stack ranged minions in your deck to exploit that.
2v2 mode is still in beta and it shows. I experienced constant slow downs and sometimes found it difficult to place my minions. I expect this to be addressed pretty soon as development seems to be moving at a steady pace. Queue time is another noticeable issues, I find myself waiting upwards of 5 minutes for a match to begin. This problem is exacerbated when in a pre-made group.
There's also a single-player challenge mode with only a handful of, like 12, challenges but it's a good way to level up and earn some unlocks before going online and I believe is the only way to really test your decks offline.
It's visually appealing. Has a nice charm and an ok sense of humor. I plan to do an in-depth review of the games aspects, fairness of micro-transactions, leveling and unlock grind at a later date.
